Lower Silesia centre for culture and entertainment is situated in Wrocław. The capital city of the province offers theatres, an opera, a concert hall and museums reminding the history of one of the oldest cities of Poland.
The pride of the region is international music festival Wratislavia Cantans, while the event “Jazz on the Oder River” successfully aspires to the title of the most important jazz event in Poland. The International Folklore Festival and Nowa Ruda Film Festiwal “Zawrót Głowy” [“Giddiness”] are constant positions in Nowa Ruda culture calendar. During these events participants have a unique chance to meet artists from Poland and other countries. Polish-Czech Days of Christian Culture organized by the Office of Border Cooperation and Wittig Symposia enjoy constantly increasing popularity. The latter is an idea of the Foundation of Nowa Ruda District Revival [Fundacji Odnowy Ziemi Noworudzkiej] for remembrance of Joseph Witting – a theologian and a bard of the history of Nowa Ruda. Among Nowa Ruda culture attractions, there is also a holiday for Japanese culture lovers. Nowa Ruda Days of Japan are organised in cooperation with Japan Embassy in Warsaw and they attract crowds of people every year. “Collegium Glacense” Polish-Czech University of Business and Sport [Polsko-Czeska Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu i Sportu „Collegium Glacense”] and Municipal Public Library [Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna] – organizer of Nowa Ruda Meetings with Poetry and at the same time “breeding ground” for debutants publishing their poetry collections within the cooperation with “OGMA” Nowa Ruda Literary Club have also a contribution into cultural promotion of the city. |
